c'mon, what you talkin' bout'? There's nuthin' wrong with rap today instead it is way better. Now around 10 to 15 years ago rappers were being shot just for music, tupac, biggie, 50 cent was shot too but survived and many more, nowadays we don't see anythin wrong.

Unfortunately hip-hop is becoming more and more ';pop';(ie; Flo Rida music). Also, gone are the long term album deals everything now is about gimmicks. This is why we have all these gimmick songs and all this ring tone rap. Nowadays artists may have one sucessful song and u gotta milk the cow dry for what its worth. This is really diluting the material and subject matter of real rap
There is no heart being put into rap nowadays man. No knowledge being dropped we got maggots like Lil wayne, Jim Jones, Soulja Boy and Flo Rida messing up the game today man for real. Lil Mama Got a lil raw attitude n all that but i think with the right producer the chick might go on and be something today man she should have worked with Dj Premiere on her debut album and i think she would have killed it like a true Mc man. Jadakiss lost his touch same too goes for Fabulous and nobody got respect for KRS one no more man. The south is bringin noise and it is affect true hip hop heads everywhere man even Eminem has no competition on this solo rap sihit anywhere man that's why i feel Relapse could have been major if the real Mc's stod their ground and never sold out for no one. Rap is gone man it's gonna need a mirical to bring that baby back from the damn dead. All thats left are the true dudes like The Last Emperor, Afura, SAS, Roots Manuva etc in conclusion i feel that music has lost its touch an no longer hasd anybody real in it man it is all about the money and not the artist and emotion colliding with he creative sub-conscious.

i can hear a whole song with 16 lines that doesnt say a damn thing


its like a.d.d. no complete thoughts at all


they assume as long as it rhymes its a song like master p used to do


a box set dual disc with 40 songs total only 2 or 3 were good


the rest had sloppy beats or dumbass skit fillers


its just stupid a few songs are thought out the rest are just slapped to gether
Money. thats the problem. Most all rappers nowadays just rap cuz they want to make money. listen to their songs and then u find out that all they want is money. Rappers nowadays have no desire to make good music. they make dumbass raps just so they can get a quick buck. the old skool didnt care about money, they cared about wat kind of music they make and how their fans are enjoying. The old skool MCs had soul and love for their music while these rappers only think one thing, ';When am i gonna get my big money check?';
The lyrics and the popularity.


The rap with the bad lyrics get the popularity while the ones with much more soul in them aren't ever heard of.


I'm not big on rap but I have one rap song on my iTunes and it makes me cry.
most of the real lyricists are dead or just not in the game anymore. now the rap game is all about beef, ads and money. true some of that was around in the 90's but the number of rap songs that have meaning are dwindling.
