Join in my rant about Viruses!?

I downloaded something from seriall.com and now it has infected my pc in the study!! Grr and it was an exe file and I cant get it off. grrr!!Join in my rant about Viruses!?
Try uninstalling the program you downloaded in safe mode and delete the remaining files.

Also scan your computer with your antivirus program and anti-spyware/adware program.

If you don't have antivirus and anti-spyware/adware you need to get it.

Is it a virus?

I'll assume it is a bit of malware. If it is a process then it can be terminated. Launch Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete and click on the Processes tab. Have a look at all the non SYSTEM, NETWORK or LOCAL processes by doing a Google search on the process name and by a process of elimination you should find the culprit. Click on the process and click the End Process button.

Then do a file search for the filename (the same name as the process) and delete it.
Hi there,

Download counterspy http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Home-Hom鈥?/a>

Install program and update it, you will get 15 day trial. Leave shortcut on desktop. Make sure your anti virus program is updated.

Select folder options from control panel %26gt; select show hidden files/folders %26gt; apply %26gt; ok. Right click my computer %26gt; select properties %26gt; system restore %26gt; turn off %26gt; apply ok. Disconnect from the internet physically, ie remove cable etc. Reboot in safe mode. Run counterspy and delete all it finds. Run your anti virus program. Quarantine all it finds. Reboot in normal mode, turn off show hidden files/ folders. Turn on system restore and create new restore point.
